Programs

Preschool— This program provides preschool education for 3 and 4 year olds.  Fees are paid by parents, community sponsorships, Wahkiakum County, United Way and support from the Diocese of Olympia.

Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) - This is Washington State’s version of Head Start.  It is a comprehensive preschool and social services program for income qualifying 3 and 4 year olds.

Child Care 2—4 year olds—We are the only licensed child care center in Wahkiakum County.  Our doors open at 6:00 AM and close at 6:15 PM, Monday through Friday. 

Kindercare 4½ - 6 year olds and School Age Care 6—12 year olds—These programs provides before and after school, holiday and summer care.  We provide transportation to and from Kindergarten.

Infant and Toddler Care—1 month—2½ years. 

Youth Adventure Program— This is a summer program based on a parks and recreation model and provides classes for preschool through high school, taught entirely by community volunteers. Classes have included crafts, sports, kayaking, basic care maintenance, field trips, model rocketry, gardening, and disaster preparedness.

Family Support Services—Family support and parent education are the main focus of this program.  Our FSS advocates visit families with children ages 0-5 years to provide support and child guidance for families throughout Wahkiakum County.

Readiness to Learn (RTL) - This is a state funded family support program designed to address and help families overcome non-academic barriers to learning so that students can attend school every day and achieve their highest potential.

Adult to Youth Mentoring—Wahkiakum Community Network contracts with SJFC to match up to 20 adults with 20 K-5th graders.

Family Violence Victims Advocacy— Working in conjunction with the County Sheriff's Department and the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, trained volunteers are available for information and support for victims of family violence.

Charlotte House Family Violence Shelter—The Charlotte House provides 24 hour shelter and/or services for women and children who are victims of family violence.  These confidential services include legal advocacy, medical and social services, referrals and counseling.

Community Sexual Assault Program—Victims of sexual assault are provided confidential services including crisis intervention, legal and medical advocacy, information, and referral.

Parents as Teachers—PAT is a new program made possible by grant funds.  PAT helps strengthen family relationships through parent support groups and home visits.
