Mission

Our mission is to strengthen families by promoting self-sufficiency, life-long learning, and healthy living free of substance abuse, child abuse and family violence.

Vision

We envision serving Wahkiakum County  as a socially responsive community center, providing leadership in services to children and families, collaborating to build a strong community of residents who care for each other.

Organizational Goals

The St. James Family Center Staff and Board of Directors:

Recognize that the motivation that inspires and under-girds the Family center is based on Christian faith and on the Episcopal baptismal covenant:  “We will strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being:, and “We will see and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves”.  Most SJFC programs are non-religious and all are open to everyone in the community.

Ground all programs in family support principles and youth developmental assets, high standards, and practices which demonstrate successful outcomes.

Respond to community need, offering or expanding the programs based on formal and/or informal community assessment.

Provide a working environment which encourages dedicated, caring, stable and educated staff.

Secure adequate, reliable operational funding.

Encourage responsible stewardship of our community’s environment, resources and this facility.

Communicate effectively with all who have an existing or potential interest in the Family Center.
